The use of cigarettes nowadays has increased so much because of the addictive chemicals it has. Nicotine can make a person badly addicted to smoking and at last, he dies. A lot of people pick up this habit due to a number of reasons such as the bad company of friends, stress, depression, and personal issues. In fact, some people begin smoking to show off as they think smoking is cool. When you smoke, you don’t only kill yourself, but also the people around you. Studies prove that a person sitting beside a person who is smoking is in danger equally to the smoker. When you smoke, your family members and friends all are in danger and they are at risk to die. Tobacco has a disastrous impact on our health, nevertheless, 90% of people consume it daily for a longer period of their lives till it’s too late. Cigarette has caused multiple deaths in a few years as their consumption is increasing eventually. 

ONCE YOU START, IT’S HARD TO LEAVE

Smoking is a very difficult habit to leave especially when it’s been done for a couple of years on a daily basis. A smoker’s mind, body, and heart quickly get used to nicotine and tobacco in cigarettes and a person needs to have it to feel good and comfortable. If a person who is badly addicted doesn’t get cigarettes, he runs out of his mind, gets aggressive, and runs to find a cigarette. Cigarettes give some satisfaction for a short span of time, and after that satisfaction is over, he needs another one as soon as possible. You feel anxious, aggressive, and easily angered if you try to stop smoking. You don’t know when, where, and how often to smoke, you just keep on smoking, it keeps on giving you satisfaction each time, and eventually, it only causes cancer. Your heart and mind scream for tobacco because it becomes used to it. 

PEOPLE THINK E-CIGARETTES (VAPING) ARE SAFE

If people think vaping is safe as compared to cigarettes because E-cigarettes don’t contain tobacco. They are wrong because vapes contain other chemicals that are very dangerous to health including nicotine, flavors, and other chemicals which give pleasure and are highly addictive. E-cigarette converts these flavors into a vapor that is inhaled by the user. Vapes cause most serious heart, lung, and other diseases and even death. Vaping is not completely risk-free, but it poses a small fraction of the risk of smoking cigarettes. The long-term risks of vaping are not yet clear. 

HOW CAN SMOKING AFFECT HEALTH? 

Most of the chemicals in cigarettes contain chemicals that are highly harmful to our hearts and lungs and cause death. Our bodies are naturally defensive against poisonous chemicals but only to some extent and once that extent is over, our body becomes weak and the time comes when you have to run to doctors and pay them. First-time smokers also feel some pain and burning in their hearts and lungs which proves the deadly chemicals cigarette contain. Smoking leads to health problems which include: 

1. Heart diseases. 

2. Stroke. 

3. Lung damage. 

4. Many cancers including heart, skin, stomach, bladder, and lung cancer. 

5. Gum diseases including tooth decay and cavities. 

6. Yellow and black teeth 

7. Eye infections. 

8. Low immunity and defense against diseases like pneumonia, typhoid, or dengue. 

9. Weak bones and joints. 

10. Greater risk of diabetes. 

11. Wrinkled skin. 

12. Bad breath. 

13. Ulcers. 

AFFECT OF CIGARETTES ON WOMEN 

Smoking affects the sexual health of women like hormonal-based diseases. These diseases can include infertility, birth control, breast cancer, etc. If a woman wants to get pregnant after marriage and dreams of a baby, smoking makes it very difficult for her. Smoking during pregnancy increases the risk of pregnancy complications. Teen girls don’t get their menses on time because of smoking which leads to pigmentation on the skin, obesity, bloating, wrinkles, ovary issue, and many long-term consequences. 

LONG-TERM PROBLEMS OF CIGARETTES 

  • BAD BREATH: 

Cigarettes leave smokers with a condition of long-lasting bad breath and then people don’t like to go near them or communicate with them. Family members have to live with the smoker eventually but they hate the smell and odor of a smoker. 

The smoke of cigarettes tends to last for a very long span of time not just on the body of the smoker, but also on hair, clothes, cars, or any vehicle they sit upon, and hands. People will obviously don’t like communicating with someone who smells bad. 

A smoker’s strength decreases and can’t compete well with non-smokers when it comes to sports or daily activities. Smokers face issues like a fast heartbeat, decreased circulation, and shortness of breath.

  • INCREASED RISK OF ILLNESS: 

Smokers have a high risk of diseases and they are not defensive against colds, flu, bronchitis, and pneumonia-like nonsmokers. Teens often use smoking to maintain their weight instead of eating and due to this they lack nutrients that are needed for proper growth and fight off illness. 

  • HEART DISEASES: 

Heart diseases caused by smoking include several types of heart conditions like coronary artery disease, which is the narrowing of blood vessels that carry blood to the heart. This may result in chest pain, heart attack, heart failure, or arrhythmia. Several ways to protect your heart are: 

1. Avoid second-hand smoke. 

2. Eat low-fat, low-salt foods and eat fresh fruits and vegetables. 

3. Maintain a healthy weight and visit the gym on regular basis. 

4. Exercise regularly even if not going to the gym. 

5. Limit other drugs like alcohol or E-cigarettes. 

6. Get your diabetes under control by visiting the doctor. 

HOW TO STOP SMOKING? 

Leaving the habit of smoking can be difficult, but it is not impossible if you aim to leave it. There are several ways to stop smoking: 

1. Look for nicotine replacement therapy. 

2. Find your triggers when you mostly feel like smoking and try to avoid smoking at that time. 

3. Physical activity can help distract you from tobacco cravings. 

4. Try ways to relax such as yoga, deep breathing, muscle relaxation, massage, or listening calm music. 

5. Remind yourself of the benefits by saying them out loud. 

6. Always seek your loved ones because they will always encourage you in leaving cigarettes.

Always remember that cigarette only gives you satisfaction and pleasure for a very short period of time and then it gifts you a lot of long-term diseases. No family member likes that you suffer from diseases so you have to think about them and leave smoking.
